A number of positions in the Aleph Product Working Group become available in 2010, please see the Call for candidates. The current coordinator is not standing again, as well as some module coordinators. Some members of the current working body have indicated their intention to stand again.
We will update this list of statements as new candidates come forward up to the time of the conference.
I wish to put my name forward for the position of Aleph PWG Coordinator. For the past three years I have been a Deputy Coordinator with primary responsibility for coordinating the Aleph enhancement process. Prior to that, I was a Module Coordinator for Circulation for one year. —- In my paid job, I led the team that implemented Aleph in our consortia in January 2004 and have been the Aleph product manager since that time. I have worked with five different ILS’s during my career and had primary responsibility for leading the implementation of four of them, including three that had reached the end of their lifecycle and were migrated to replacement ILS’s. —- If elected as PWG Coordinator I will focus on ensuring that Aleph maintains its relevance to IGeLU and ExLibris, despite it’s being a mature product that is now surrounded by newer and sexier web-based products. Aleph will undoubtedly remain viable for at least several more versions, but because ExLibris’ development priorities are shifting to newer products, it is unlikely that Aleph will have significant new features developed for it. I have experience with this scenario and will do my best to represent the needs and concerns of Aleph users in this challenging environment.
I wish to continue my work as Aleph PWG deputy coordinator. As a systems librarian in a 2-ADM-environment I am responsible for acquisition&serials incl EDI, ILL, bib data import/export, statistics (SQL, ARC), electronic ressources management incl ADAM. From 1999 to 2004 I worked for Ex Libris Germany both in implementation and support teams. — Since my election at the 1st IGeLU conference in 2006 I worked on building and maintaining the IGeLU website, where I am in charge of the Aleph pages. In addition I serve as an administrator and support other PWGs. I helped preparing and carrying out the IGeLU conferences in Brno, Madrid, Helsinki and Ghent. I am the coordinator of the ARC Group at IGeLU and a moderator for the Aleph area in the EL Commons wiki.
I am systems librarian at the Austrian Library Network Center. I support many small libraries with the main task of cataloging, acq and serials. I work with the tables and also teach the librarians how to use the system (over 10 years now) I am also nearly as long a module coordinator. — I am standing again because I always learn a lot myself, when I am testing the new versions. With the requests from other libraries I also find new ideas how to work with the system.
I’m the eSystems Team Manager at Nottingham Trent University. I’ve been responsible for managing Library Management Systems for the past 27 years, and my specific interests are Circulation including Self Service, and Systems Administration. We’ve been using ALEPH since 2005 so I have a good grasp of how the application works. I’ve also been involved in coordinating User Group activities for our previous LMS, so hopefully I can bring experience, knowledge and insight into the role as Circulation module coordinator.
I work at the University of Iowa Libraries in the Circulation, Media and Reserve Department. I have worked with Aleph circulation since August 2000 when the University of Iowa implemented Aleph. At Iowa, I test new features and new releases in both circulation and course reading. I am familiar with the configuration tables for Aleph circulation and I also have hands on experience using the circulation module on a daily basis. I have been active in ELUNA (Chair of the 2006 ELUNA Course Reserves Focus Group and program chair for 2009 conference) and I would like to continue to work to influence the growth of the circulation functionality in Aleph.
Since 2006 I am working as systems librarian at the Freie Universität Berlin. Before that I worked for many years in the Aleph project group of ExLibris, Germany, with special emphasis on the modules circulation, acquisitions and ILL. Our library has been working with the ILL module since 2003, and my colleagues have been involved in the Aleph ILL Focus Group. Like most German libraries we are conducting ILL via SLNP. In 2008 we served as early adopter for the introduction of ILL2. However, we will not start using it in production before migrating to V20.
Some years ago I was a member of the PWG ALEPH and worked for Systems Administration and Web-OPAC. —- I run for a member of PWG again. My special interests are in systemadministration. —- We run ALEPH since 1999 at Humboldt-University. All the years I was the systemadministrator in our library, my current role is head of the computer department. We also run Metalib, SFX and Primo. —- These products runs in consortial environments.
I would like to present myself as a candidate for the role of Web OPAC coordinator. I have worked at Ex Libris headquarters from 2003 to 2008 as development and support analyst. I gained experience in various Aleph modules such as Acquisition, Circulation, Cataloging, Opac, and ARC. Since May 2010 I am employed at the Weizmann Institute of Science libraries’ Headquarters, Rehovot, Israel. I am the computerized services coordinator, hence I have to learn all Aleph modules in-Depth in order to solve problems and initiate changes and enhancements. I would be happy to contribute to IGeLU.
