1. Introduction

Philippe-Christian Popp was born in Utrecht, the Netherlands, in 1805. In 1817 he came to, what was called the southern part of the “Verenigd Koninkrijk der Nederlanden” (United Kingdom of the Netherlands) where. he started his career at the provincial administration at Mons, Hainaut. In 1827, he moved to Bruges, Flanders, and married that same year. Read more →
