IGeLU Statute: Article IX – Relationship with the National User Groups:
A close relationship to the National User Groups of all Ex Libris products shall be an important part of the organization with the special commitment of the Steering Committee and the Coordinators of the Product Working Groups.
National User Groups facilitate the sharing of knowledge, expertise and experience in a way that more people are able to participate in user group activities than International User Groups, due to relatively close proximity and first language communication. Thus the National User Groups (NUG’s) which have developed in many countries over the past years are able to significantly enhance the user experience provided by the International User Group (IGeLU). Conversely IGeLU provides opportunities for such dialog and networking across borders – so a close relationship between INUG and IGeLU is one that benefits all users in many ways.
The IGeLU Steering Committee acts on behalf of National User Groups if specific regional problems occur, while the Product Working Groups do so at a product level if necessary.
INUG meetings take place just before the annual IGeLU conferences where representatives of the National User Groups meet with each other, the Steering Committee and the Product Working Group
Coordinators, where feedback is provided on the past year’s activities and NUG representatives have the opportunity to share experiences and concerns and explore these with colleagues within a small group.
Ex Libris Management joins the group later in the afternoon, which provides an opportunity to hear developments they’re planning, and to discuss issues and concerns.
Representatives of NUG’s are requested to provide a short report of their National User Group activities, successes and concerns in advance of the annual INUG meetings, which reports prompt questions, comments and lively debate at the meeting.
Input into and feedback from INUG meetings is provided to members by their National User Group Representatives.
Due to the different forms of organization at the national and regional level, until 2007 there were separate meetings
From 2008 there has been a joint meeting [ INUG-Meetings 2008- ].
