And Now for Something Completely Different: Narrative Views in Analytics

What is it, how is it used?
A narrative view displays analysis results integrated in paragraphs of text. It can be used to provide context, explanatory text, or extended descriptions along with one or more column values.
Tasks you can perform in the narrative view editor: [1] Integrate text with placeholders for each column in the results; [2] Specify how rows are separated; [3] Apply formatting.
One use in our organization has been to create an internal order form which integrates signature rows for different people, as appropriate to the total price of the order.
This presentation will demonstrate how to configure the narrative view and its little-known features.

Do it Once, Do it Right, Use it Everywhere: Leveraging Textbook Data in Leganto in Other Systems

At the University of Western Australia, Unit Coordinators were being asked to submit textbook information in multiple places. It was also unclear where students should go to find up to date and comprehensive textbook information. To address these issues, the Library advocated for Leganto to become the source of truth for textbook information. Integrations were developed to export textbook data from Leganto using the Courses API and to ingest this data into Unit Outlines, a website for students and to generate a daily export to book vendors. The Library also utilised the Courses API to automate creating and updating courses in Alma to ensure that Leganto would have complete coverage of units. This project has developed a streamlined method for communication of textbook information and efficiency for Library reading list management and purchasing workflows. It has also provided a consistent experience for students and resulted in a 25% increase in reading lists in Leganto.
UNSW Library Unstacked – Innovative Approach to the Visual Communication of our Digital Engagement

With the shift to predominantly digital collections, many libraries face similar challenges in terms of communicating the breadth and diversity of how their digital collections are used. UNSW Library has addressed this challenge by creating UNSW Library Unstacked, a public-facing live data visualisation that reveals the depth of engagement with the Library collection in real-time, making visible the ever-evolving activity of “digital library” research that is otherwise hidden from view. This presentation will give an overview of the Library’s collaboration with Elisa Lee from Unstacked to design and develop UNSW Library Unstacked. It will describe the drivers for the project, the collaborative design process, and the technical development of the visualisation, including the integration between Primo, Unstacked and the process for live mapping of PNX data to the categories used in the visualisation. Finally, it will share insights from client and staff responses to the project.

Optimizing Data in Alma/Primo for the Minnesota State Equity 2030 Initiative

Minnesota State’s Equity 2030 guidelines are being included even more in our planning for projects and cleanup work. We specifically look at helping academic success and student engagement by improving student access to existing library resources. With the way Alma and Primo VE manage and display electronic resources and physical resources, we have found it extremely important to maintain best data practices. Bad data confuses users by displaying in Primo, causes linking issues, clutters Alma search results, and confuses staff. For students using Primo, this bad data can cause delays in the amount of time it takes them to complete assignments, leads to issues finding relevant resources, and may lead to them bypassing library resources for Google. The PALS office will share how we assist libraries in identifying and cleaning up these data issues from Acquisitions, ERM, and RM workflows to optimize the end-user experience in Primo.

In 2017 Charles Sturt University Library migrated from a consortium environment to direct with Ex Libris Alma. Most of the workflows were migrated as is and did not utilise the full functionality and capability of the system. After a steep learning curve and attempting to configure the system as required, we enlisted the help of Ex Libris Professional Services in early 2019 to perform a review and provide recommendations on how the Alma system could be better utilised. This presentation will take you through that journey, the improvements made and how the outcomes put us in a position to quickly adapt to the global pandemic in 2020/2021.

It is all about Digital: Impact of Digital Collections in the Areas of Learning, Teaching & Research

The digital culture is here to stay and continues to develop towards new horizons based on the advances of digital technologies. Libraries are well known for adopting innovative systems and workflows to digital platforms. The Alma Digital platform offers a variety of functionalities that can be implemented to answer the requirements for the learning, teaching and research areas engaging students and researchers.
In this session, I will present examples of digital collections implemented at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem based on user requirements (librarians, archivists and researchers). The digital collections examples will include different types of digital objects display (3D objects, video and more), and an example of the integration with GIS systems via the API services. The aim of this presentation is to show innovative ways of digital collections with user experience for teaching learning, and research.
Implementing Indoor Navigation in Primo and CampusM

The impact of rapid technological change has provided a significant opportunity for library development, such as indoor navigation, which is able to connect spatial data to physical locations. The application makes it easy to navigate to the destination with designated routes, so that user can find the location of different facilities and physical materials inside the libraries. The popularity of smart devices further intensifies user experiences on such purpose.
This presentation will share our experiences and issues encountered on integrating an indoor map service with Primo and CampusM. We will talk about the technology used, how to implement and future development.

The Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) implemented and integrated Leganto with its academic systems to support the whole bibliographic management and the provision of the E-bibliography service. Through this service, the UPC Library guarantees the access and availability of the bibliography to students (undergraduate and graduate level) and faculty. Results of the implementation and the use of the service by UPC’s students are also discussed, along with the description of how it helped the institution to cope with the COVID-19 challenges to the teaching and learning process.
