Koenraad Debackere (Ph.D.) is a professor of Technology and Innovation at the Faculty of Economics and Business of KU Leuven. His research has focused on the design of technology and innovation management practices and policies, the development of indicators for measuring the societal and economic impact of science and innovation policies, the role of entrepreneurial universities in economic development and the management and growth of technology intensive companies. Since 1999, he has been actively engaged in technology transfer activities as managing director of KU Leuven Research & Development. Over the last twenty years this has led to relevant experience with the development and growth of technology intensive, innovative entrepreneurial companies. Between 2005 and 2020 he was general manager of KU Leuven. Today he is the chair of KU Leuven Associatie. The higher education system of KU Leuven and 5 university colleges, Luca School of Arts, Odisee, Thomas More, UCLL and Vives.
