New IGeLU Chair elected in Budapest

After 9 years, IGeLU elected a new Chair, during its last conference in Budapest – Theo Engelman from Utrecht university, Netherlands. Theo has been on the Steering Committee of IGeLU for 3 years and was mainly responsible for the technological infrastructure of IGeLU – administrating the website, the WebEx meetings and the archives on Google docs. He also took care of the News in Brief and was liaison to several Product or Special Interest Working Groups. Besides these “basic duties” Theo was soon involved in all strategic discussions within the Steering committee and with Ex Libris and so it was only natural that he run for the vacant Chair position. And it was also no surprise that he was elected with a vast majority of the votes.

The Steering committee and especially the past chair were very happy that Theo was willing to take the burden and serve the user community for the current and hopefully also for at least the following period. He is doing a great job and we do our best to support him.
