Elections & Voting

Institutions that are paid-up members with the IGeLU annual fee are recognized as Members and have the right to vote in the Elections.

According to the Statute, we need a quorum of one third of all Members to validate the decisions of the Assembly concerning projects, plan of activities, expenses, election of the Steering Committee members, etc. This is a crucial step, and it is of great importance in the life of the Association, both from a legal and operational point of view.

Voting will be using the ElectionBuddy platform.

The voting process will be as follows

  1. Email with a unique one-off link will be sent to the Institutional/Consortia contact as per the IGeLU membership record
  2. The contact person can forward this email to someone else in the institution/consortia if they do not feel that they are the best person to carry out the voting
  3. Once the link has been used for voting it cannot be re-used
  4. If the contact person is not available due to leave or if they have left the institution/consortia please contact elections{at}exlibrisusers.org  with an updated email contact so that we can invalidate the original voting email and re-issue a new voting email to the updated email contact
  5. You cannot exceed the maximum number of votes that have been allocated to your institution/consortia. It is possible to allocate a larger number but when you submit the ballot you will get an error message
  6. Select ‘Abstain’ at the bottom of the ‘ballot’ if you want to decline voting in the election
  7. If you select ‘Abstain’ then any votes that you may have allocated on the ballot will be deleted
  8. Reminder emails are automatically sent out if you have not voted
  9. Voting is confidential and IGeLU cannot determine who has or hasn’t voted

If there are any issues with voting or the ballot please contact elections{at}exlibrisusers.org

Elections for Steering Committee candidates is a crucial part of the annual conference. All IGeLU members are eligible to vote (one vote per institution).

The position of Chair is held for three years, and ordinary Steering Committee members have a two year term, but not all members are elected in one year. Note that the role of Treasurer is not elected, but is an ex officio member of the Steering Committee.

This year (2024) there are

  • 4 vacant positions on the IGeLU Steering Committee
  • vacant position for Chair, IGeLU Steering Committee
