In addition there is a special tour showcasing the amazing women’s history of Cardiff civic centre. From militant suffragettes and peace activists, to trailblazing academics and artists: this guided tour shows us that women’s history isn’t ‘hidden’ – it’s all around us (if you know where to look).

Cardiff University Special Collections (Arts and Social Studies Library)
Date and time: 15 September, 11am
Description: Join us for a tour behind the scenes of Cardiff University’s Special Collections and Archives and learn more about the history of our magnificent collections and the work we do here. We’ll also showcase some of our most treasured items, focussing on Welsh language and history, with opportunities to handle items. And let you know how you too can access our fantastic array of rare books and archives.

Senedd – Welsh Parliament [Canceled due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II]Dates and times: 12 September 9:30am and 16 September 11am
Description: A guided tour of the Welsh Parliament, including the main chamber and committee rooms, with an introduction to how the parliament works and its history.
The Senedd building is in Cardiff Bay, where there are many other attractions (e.g. Norwegian church, where Roald Dahl was baptised) and restaurants and bars.
Capacity: Up to 10 people

Getting there: Delegates to make their own way to the Senedd and check in at security under ‘IGeLU tour’ (will need to go through physical security- no pen-knives etc, arrive 15 minutes before time to allow for checks). 25 minute walk from the RWCMD, or 5 minute train ride from Cardiff Queen Street station. Women’s history tour of the civic centre

Description: A leisurely, step-free tour showcasing the amazing women’s history of Cardiff civic centre. From militant suffragettes and peace activists, to trailblazing academics and artists: this guided tour shows us that women’s history isn’t ‘hidden’ – it’s all around us (if you know where to look).
Capacity: Up to 20 people
Duration: 1 hour
Location: Cardiff University Main Building (Park Place entrance, CF10 3AT)

National Museum Wales: galleries and behind the scenes
Date and time: 15 September, 4pm
Description: Join us for a tour behind the scenes of the National Museum’s stores and learn more about our rare and unique collections and how Museum staff care for them. The tour will commence with a visit to the Main Library to view our rare books and archives and will be followed by either a visit to our Vertebrate Store where a curator will introduce you to our taxidermy collections or to our Herbarium where you can view our Botanical Prints and Drawings collections.
Capacity: Up to 16 people (for the second half of the tour the group will be split into two groups of 8)
