Goodbye Oxford, hello Budapest!

Oxford was a success

What a great meeting in the wonderful atmosphere of Oxford! Well over 400 participants from more than 30 countries gathered in the beautiful Examinations Schools of the Oxford university to learn in more than 70 plenary and parallel sessions about new developments from the user community and from Ex Libris and to network with colleagues from around the world and with Ex Libris’s staff. Many of us were in Oxford for the first time and especially staying in the venerable colleges of Oxford made the stay very special.

The Oxford local organizing and the program planning teams have made a great job and here once again I would like to thank them all for their deep commitment and the time and efforts they invested to create such a great conference!

Now up to Budapest

But after the conference is before the conference and the Budapest program planning team performed already its first conference call discussing the next steps in preparation of the 10th IGeLU meeting in 2015 in Budapest. The first talks with our colleagues from Hungary started already in Oxford and the core of the local organizing team with Agoston Nemeth, Edit Naszados and Erika Nagy is involved in the program planning conference calls from the very beginning. The meeting in Budapest is going to be organized by the Libraries of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Technical University in Budapest, the University Library of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and the Hungarian Parliament.

A fresh come back

We are looking forward to the Budapest conference and are sure it will be just as successful as the previous IGeLU conferences have been. Though it is the first time for IGeLU to come to Hungary, we are happy to come back after the meeting of ICAU, the predecessor of IGeLU, which held its 4th conference at the Library of the Technical University in Budapest in 1993!

Hope to see you in Budapest in 2015!

Jirka Kende, IGeLU Chair
