Ex Libris is developing a new Leganto user experience to improve the user experience for instructors, students, and librarians. As part of this important project, a new Focus Group has been formed to inform the decision-making process and influence the overall design of the interface. It was determined that this group should represent different regions, institution sizes, and institution types, so the IGeLU & ELUNA Leganto PWGs put out a call for volunteers from the community. Each institution that volunteered also nominated a suitable instructor or non-library staff member to be involved, so that the two representatives could bring their different perspectives to the process.
Participants represent the following institutions and regions:
University of Oslo (Norway); Chinese University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong); University of Sheffield, University of Strathclyde, University of St. Thomas, University of York (United Kingdom); Rice University, Concordia University St Paul, Harvard (United States); Bond University, Flinders University, University of Western Australia (Australia).
The first meeting was held by Dolav Ben-Artzi (Leganto Product Manager) with librarians only to look at the proposed new interface and discuss the possible timing for the rollout for 2023. Alongside this meeting, Yael Beller (Leganto Product Owner) has been organising one-on-one usability sessions with the instructors and teaching staff in order to get initial feedback unaffected by library input. All the findings will then be shared with the Focus Group later in July as we come together to move on to the next stages of the project.
The timeline and schedule for the rest of the project will also be discussed and clarified at the July meeting.
