NERS 2018 H2 content vote results
A second Content-related voting cycle was held from December 3rd to December 23rd, 2018.The voting was for requests to have new content collections/targets/databases added into all Ex Libris ProQuest KnowledgeBases (Alma CZ, SFX KB, 360 KB) or indices (Primo Central, Summon), or both.
For this 2018 H2 voting ballot, the following 4 regional groups were highlighted:
- Chinese language
- Hebrew language
- Finnish language
- Polish language
There was no content submitted for 3 of those groups; Chinese was the only one with submissions. Therefore, the Content WG has decided to put forth the top 2 Chinese options as part of our top 10:
- ATLA Religion Database
- Embase
- Centre for European Policy Studies publications
- Joanna Briggs Institute Database
- Juridika (Norwegian language)
- Philosopher’s Index
- Social Science Research Network (SSRN)
- American Physical Society (APS)
- China Knowledge Resource Integrated Database (Chinese language)
- China Journal Net (CNKI) (Chinese language)
Ex Libris has been contacting the providers to come to an agreement with to get their content added into the KBs and/or indexes. For some of them, Ex Libris tried already to reach an agreement in the past, but they were not successful and they will try again.
Some resources that are not in the top 10 (Westlaw International, Royal Society of Chemistry ebooks, EI Compendex, Humanities Digital Library) will however be considered by Ex Libris as plan B.
NERS 2019 Content vote:
Due to the Central Discovery Index project that requires vital forces from Ex Libris, there will only be one NERS content vote in 2019, later in the year. Situation will be reanalyzed from 2020.
Content sessions at ELUNA 2019
- This year’s Content track has 6 sessions – two from Ex Libris, our CWG session, and three presentations from the community.
- The Content WG session will summarize CWG activity and get input on future plans. Plus this year it includes a Content Q&A with Ex Libris staff. Questions will be solicited ahead of the conference.
IGeLU 2019 in Singapore
Last year in Prague, there was a Content Q&A session with Ex Libris Content Operations VP and manager. For IGeLU 2019, the Content WG will present a new formula: a Content discussion panel with Ex Libris management and experienced customers with KBs and discovery indices.
Central Discovery Index
As you know, Ex Libris is developing a new Central Discovery Index (CDI). This unified index will support both Summon and Primo, creating the best of breed discovery index by upgrading infrastructure and capabilities from the existing Summon and Primo Central indexes.
Ex Libris has been requested the CWG’s help for two aspects related to the CDI: new Resource Type typology and Collection Activation process. CWG members are helped in this task by external volunteers from the IGeLU and ELUNA communities. The Content WG looks forward to collaborating more closely with Ex Libris on the new Central Discovery Index.
