Linked Open Data SIWG on the Move

Since the IGeLU 2012 conference in Zurich the Linked Open Data Special Interest Working Group has been very busy behind the scenes. Now is the time to come out in the open!

What have we been up to?
Our main activities were a direct outcome of the Zurich meeting with Ex Libris: revising the initial draft open document containing background, objectives and case studies for Linked Open Data and Ex Libris products, and compiling a shortlist of quick wins that may be implemented in the near future. The document will be made available soon.

Ex Libris have been busy too: they have become member of the W3C Schema Bib Extend Community Group, and have already extended Primo record formats in order to integrate linked data in the future.
In April 2013 we have started monthly calls between the LOD SIWG and Ex Libris to discuss short and long term LOD developments. Also, a dedicated LOD mailing list for Ex Libris customers will be started shortly, similar to the current product mailing lists.

Last but certainly not least, we have started discussing the options of a joint IGeLU-ELUNA Linked Open Data Special Interest Working Group (LOD SIWG). Both IGeLU and ELUNA Steering Committee have already approved this, but the final decision on the ELUNA side will be made at the LOD session during the ELUNA 2013 annual conference May 1.
